Some Halloween Treats

Friday, October 28, 2011

In the Holiday Mini Catalogue there was an awesome idea for Halloween treats showcased.  I wanted to re-create this idea in a cuter, simpler, and quicker way.  Ta-da!

I matched the Blackberry candy corn with Concord Crush inked owls and the Original candy corn with Pumpkin Pie inked pumpkins (with mustaches!!!).  I also love the versatility of the new long and narrow cellophane bags (1" x 8").  They have a self-adhesive to close and you can fit all types of candy in for Halloween or you could fit pens or markers for teacher presents!  And you get 50 of them for only $3.25.
To put the tag on top I dotted a bit of snail on each piece of cardstock.  You could also use glue sticks or glue dots.

To create this project you will need:

Stamp Set: Out on a limb (123824) only available until Jan. 3rd, 2012
Paper: Basic Black 8.5 x 11 cardstock (121045), Whisper White Cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin Pad (105216), Concord Crush (119785)
Tools:  Snail (104332),  Cellophane Bags 1" x 8" (124134)

Guest Blogger Erin M. from Glass Slipper Designs

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

I am so pleased to welcome my first guest blogger Erin M.!  I have known this lovely lady for many years now and she is a talented card designer who owns Glass Slipper Designs.  Check out Glass Slipper Designs Blog and Glass Slipper Designs Facebook Page and see why she is SO good!

Erin showcased two of her favourite techniques for us: sponging and dry embossing.  She loves the sponging technique because by simply putting a bit of ink on a sponge, you can either create a soft, vintage feel or give a flat piece of cardstock depth, depending on how you sponge it.  Dry embossing is also one of her favourites (and mine too!!  Love the embossing folders for the Big Shot) because it can add so much elegance and texture to the card.

I couldn't agree more!  Thank you Erin for guest blogging!

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set: Christmas Lodge (123769) only available until Jan. 3rd, 2012
Paper: Bravo Burgundy 8.5 x 11 cardstock (105123), Very Vanilla Cardstock (101650), Early Espresso Cardstock (119686)
Ink:  Bravo Burgundy Classic Stampin Pad (105214), Early Espresso (119670)
Embellishments:  Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim (118480), Antique Brads (117273)
Tools:  Mini Glue Dots (103683), Snow Burst Embossing Folder (124096), Stamping Sponges (101610), Big Shot (113439)

Simple and Elegant Christmas Notecard

Saturday, October 22, 2011

If you are looking for a simple, elegant and easy notecard this Holiday season...look no further!  This is so simple but looks like an expensive notecard you would buy at a fancy paper shop.

This particular notecard, designed with my mom, uses Elegant Eggplant as the base (simply cut your 8.5 x 11 paper into quarters) and use your snail adhesive to put a piece of Whisper White cardstock (1/8" smaller on each side).  Then we stamped Merry Christmas from the Contempo Christmas stamp set with Chocolate Chip ink.  Put the notecard in a self-adhesive clear envelope and VOILA!  We are going to add a Silver Glimmer Paper snowflake done in the Big Shot to add a bit of dazzle but there is no need for it, it is just that elegant on its own!

This simple idea could be used for Easter notecards and Thank you notecards too!  I love that beginner stampers can easily recreate this with basic supplies (a paper cutter, one stamp set, snail, and two pieces of paper).

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Contempo Christmas (120594)  only $14.95!!

Paper: Elegant Eggplant 8.5 x 11 cardstock (105110), Whisper White cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip (100908)
Tools: Clear Envelopes (102619), Snail (104332)
