Some Halloween Treats

Friday, October 28, 2011

In the Holiday Mini Catalogue there was an awesome idea for Halloween treats showcased.  I wanted to re-create this idea in a cuter, simpler, and quicker way.  Ta-da!

I matched the Blackberry candy corn with Concord Crush inked owls and the Original candy corn with Pumpkin Pie inked pumpkins (with mustaches!!!).  I also love the versatility of the new long and narrow cellophane bags (1" x 8").  They have a self-adhesive to close and you can fit all types of candy in for Halloween or you could fit pens or markers for teacher presents!  And you get 50 of them for only $3.25.
To put the tag on top I dotted a bit of snail on each piece of cardstock.  You could also use glue sticks or glue dots.

To create this project you will need:

Stamp Set: Out on a limb (123824) only available until Jan. 3rd, 2012
Paper: Basic Black 8.5 x 11 cardstock (121045), Whisper White Cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin Pad (105216), Concord Crush (119785)
Tools:  Snail (104332),  Cellophane Bags 1" x 8" (124134)

Guest Blogger Erin M. from Glass Slipper Designs

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

I am so pleased to welcome my first guest blogger Erin M.!  I have known this lovely lady for many years now and she is a talented card designer who owns Glass Slipper Designs.  Check out Glass Slipper Designs Blog and Glass Slipper Designs Facebook Page and see why she is SO good!

Erin showcased two of her favourite techniques for us: sponging and dry embossing.  She loves the sponging technique because by simply putting a bit of ink on a sponge, you can either create a soft, vintage feel or give a flat piece of cardstock depth, depending on how you sponge it.  Dry embossing is also one of her favourites (and mine too!!  Love the embossing folders for the Big Shot) because it can add so much elegance and texture to the card.

I couldn't agree more!  Thank you Erin for guest blogging!

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set: Christmas Lodge (123769) only available until Jan. 3rd, 2012
Paper: Bravo Burgundy 8.5 x 11 cardstock (105123), Very Vanilla Cardstock (101650), Early Espresso Cardstock (119686)
Ink:  Bravo Burgundy Classic Stampin Pad (105214), Early Espresso (119670)
Embellishments:  Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim (118480), Antique Brads (117273)
Tools:  Mini Glue Dots (103683), Snow Burst Embossing Folder (124096), Stamping Sponges (101610), Big Shot (113439)

Simple and Elegant Christmas Notecard

Saturday, October 22, 2011

If you are looking for a simple, elegant and easy notecard this Holiday season...look no further!  This is so simple but looks like an expensive notecard you would buy at a fancy paper shop.

This particular notecard, designed with my mom, uses Elegant Eggplant as the base (simply cut your 8.5 x 11 paper into quarters) and use your snail adhesive to put a piece of Whisper White cardstock (1/8" smaller on each side).  Then we stamped Merry Christmas from the Contempo Christmas stamp set with Chocolate Chip ink.  Put the notecard in a self-adhesive clear envelope and VOILA!  We are going to add a Silver Glimmer Paper snowflake done in the Big Shot to add a bit of dazzle but there is no need for it, it is just that elegant on its own!

This simple idea could be used for Easter notecards and Thank you notecards too!  I love that beginner stampers can easily recreate this with basic supplies (a paper cutter, one stamp set, snail, and two pieces of paper).

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Contempo Christmas (120594)  only $14.95!!

Paper: Elegant Eggplant 8.5 x 11 cardstock (105110), Whisper White cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip (100908)
Tools: Clear Envelopes (102619), Snail (104332)

Thank You Card for Regional Convention Swap

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

I'm very excited to be going to my first Stampin' Up Regional Convention this weekend!  There will be a card swap taking place and here is the card that I am bringing to swap!  Can't wait to see the great cards I swap for!!

I used almost all new items from the 2011-2012 catalogue.  The "Thanks" stamp comes from the new Hostess set called "Tagtastic" and it fits perfectly in the 1-3/4" circle punch.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to colour in the stamp.  The Polka Dot ribbon adds that extra punch of colour.  It is adhered to the back of the Whisper White stripe embossed paper using glue dots.

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Tagtastic (122747)  NEW HOSTESS SET

Paper: Pool Party 8.5 x 11 cardstock (122924) NEW, Island Indigo cardstock (122923) NEW, Whisper White cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Island Indigo Stampin' Write marker NEW, Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker (121074)
Embellishments: Melon Mambo Scallop Dot ribbon (122985) NEW
Tools: Dimensionals (104430), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (119850), 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874), Stripes Embossing Folder (123128) NEW, Mini Glue Dots (103683),  Snail (104332)

Masculine Birthday

Friday, August 26, 2011

I'm a big fan of buttons and was really excited when the Button, Button stamp set came out last year!  I used two of the 'buttons' to create a wallpaper background.  The bigger button is inked in Peach Parfait and the smaller button is in Early Espresso.  The Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon is an inexpensive way to add a lot of style and texture to cards.  Adhere it to the card using Sticky Strip.  Don't forget the little pearl on the dot of the 'i'.  LOL.  Love my little pearls!!

I really enjoy how cards evolve out of simple inspiration.  I had an extra piece of Peach Parfait paper and I really wanted to use the Button, Button stamps!  Then voila!

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set: Perfectly Penned (122892), Button, Button (122040)
Paper: Peach Parfait 8.5 x 11 cardstock (119794), Very Vanilla Cardstock (101650)
Ink:  Peach Parfait Classic Stampin Pad (119783), Early Espresso (119670)
Embellishments:  Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (120931), Basic Pearls (119247)
Tools:  Snail Adhesive (104332), Sticky Strip (104294), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Sneak Peak - Bright Hopes

Monday, August 22, 2011

Here is a sneak peak of the Bright Hopes stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalogue (available September 01, 2011)!  This stamp set is great for so many reasons but my favourite is how great it is for embossing!!  This is a gorgeous 3x3 inch Christmas card.  Great if you need to make a whole bunch of cards but you don't want to go all out with larger cards.

I used the new Cherry Cobbler embossing powder for both.  The left card "Merry Christmas" is inked in Early Espresso and the right is Cherry Cobbler.  Not sure which one I like better yet.

Which one do you like better?

To create this card you will need:

Stamp SetBright Hopes
Paper: Whisper White 8.5 x 11 cardstock (100730), Cherry Cobbler 12 x 12 cardstock (124272)
Ink:  Early Espresso (119670), Cherry Cobbler (119669)
Embellishments: Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Emboss Powder (122949) NEW

Perfectly Penned Birthday

Thursday, August 18, 2011

I love the font of the Perfectly Penned stamp set, as you may have noticed!  I also enjoy that this stamp set has very simple and straight forward sentiments:  Thank You, Celebrate Today, Happy Birthday, and Get Well.

Birthday week is coming to our house soon (4 birthdays in 5 days) so I thought I might get a head start on the cards I need!  For this card I used last year's In Colours and the new Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper.  I used my handy dandy 1 1/4" square punch on the Designer Series Paper and layered it on Concord Crush card stock.   I put a little pearl on the dot of the 'i' in Birthday to finish it off!

Don't forget Designer Series Paper is buy 3, get 1 free!!!  This promo ends August 31, 2011 and excludes Specialty Designer Paper.   I will be putting in a group order in about a week, please email me your orders or you can order online and have it shipped directly to your home, anywhere in Canada!

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Perfectly Penned (122892)
Paper: Blushing Bride 8.5 x 11 cardstock (119796),  Concord Crush Cardstock (119792), Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper (124339)
Ink:  Concord Crush Classic Stampin Pad (119785)
Embellishments: Basic Pearls (119247)
Tools:  Snail Adhesive (104332). 1 1/4" Square Punch (119865)

Delicate Doilies Thank you cards

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

This is a super simple Thank You card!!  Definitely a "Less is More" kind of card and it literally took me 5 minutes start to finish to make all four!  If you have pre-cut note cards then you wouldn't even need a paper cutter to create this card.   You could absolutely make this card in any favourite colour and I really enjoy how the pearl takes on the colour of the ink!

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Perfectly Penned (122892), Delicate Doilies (122592)
Paper: Whisper White 8.5 x 11 cardstock (100730) OR Note Cards (these are pre-cut and come with envelopes!) (107311)
Ink:  Any Colour you like!
Embellishments: Basic Pearls (119247)

Hello There, Baby Bear

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

A new baby girl has arrived into this world and I can't wait to give her this cute card!

The baby bear image is inked in Melon Mambo.  I used the Stampin' Write marker and "coloured" it in since I don't have the Melon Mambo ink pad...believe it or not!  The best part about the markers, they take up very little space but you can use them in the exact same way as you would an ink pad!

That is the new Chocolate Chip Scallop Dot ribbon!  Love that the polka dots make this card very girly cute!

Tip:  Use Sticky Strip to adhere the embossed Whisper White onto Blushing Bride.  Using adhesive, such as Snail, can flatten out the embossed image.

To recreate this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Bear Hug (116966)
Paper: Blushing Bride 8.5 x 11 cardstock (119796), Chocolate Chip Cardstock (102128), Whisper White cardstock (100730)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin Pad (100908), Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker (121074)
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip Scallop Dot ribbon (124142),
Tools: Sticky Strip (104294), Dimensionals (104430), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (119850), 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335)

Holiday Mini Catalogue Sneak Peaks Coming Soon!

Monday, August 15, 2011

We've recently had some technical difficulties with computers which has made it almost impossible to post up pictures on the blog.  That will all be taken care of quickly with some electronic replacements!  New posts with pictures to be coming very soon!

There was a lot of excitement in my house this afternoon as our favourite UPS van dropped off 6 boxes of Stampin' Up goodies to my door!!  These boxes were filled with lots of orders and (drum roll please....) new Holiday Mini Catalogue stamp sets, embellishments and paper!!!  I can't wait to start using them.  I've spent a good part of the evening putting together my stamps and re-organizing my stamping area to include all the new items.

I want to say a big Thank You to everyone who has booked a Holiday Workshop with me already!!   I still have availability in October and only a couple dates left for September if anyone is interested in hosting a Holiday themed workshop.  Please email me at karolinastamps@gmail.com if you would like any information about hosting a fun and easy workshop!  On top of the regular Stampin' Up incentives, I've got lots of great little gifts for my hostesses!  :)  Let me host your next crafty night!

New In Colors and Lace Border Punch

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

There is something very refreshing about the new In Colors and with names like Pool Party, Island Indigo and Calypso Coral, who could disagree?  :)  As you may have noticed... ever since the new In Colours have been released I have used them in my cards over and over again.  This Thank You card is no exception!  I used the new Lace Border Punch on Lucky Limeade paper to give the card a little more contrast.  The flowers were punched out using the Triple Flower punch.  I stuck them on using mini glue dots.  The glue dots ensure that they stick to the paper really well and give the flowers a little bit of dimension.

The "thank you for being you" sentiment comes from the Bold Blossom stamp set which is only available until August 31st, 2011!!!  I have used this set endless times and it is a steal of a deal at $11.95 for clear mount.

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Bold Blossom (122232)
Paper: Pool Party 8.5 x 11 cardstock (122924) NEW, Calypso Coral Cardstock (122925) NEW, Lucky Limeade (122926) NEW, Island Indigo (122923) NEW
Ink:  Island Indigo Classic Stampin Pad (122937) NEW
Tools:  Snail Adhesive (104332). Mini Glue Dots (103683), Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464), Lace Ribbon Border (122362) NEW

Sweets for the sweet - Emboss Resist Technique

Monday, August 8, 2011

I got out my good ol' embossing gun to have some fun with the new Sweets for the Sweet stamp set.  I embossed the lollipop with clear embossing powder on Whisper White paper and used my sponge dauber in Wisteria Wonder across the embossed image after it had cooled.  Then I punched it out with my 1" circle punch and stuck it on with a dimensional.  The little rhinestone on the bow gives it a little bling!  :)

This card was made using all the NEW In Colours for 2011 and Designer Series Paper in Berry Blossom which coordinates perfectly (and happens to be on sale right now with the Buy 3 get 1 Free promo)

To create this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Sweets for my Sweet (122512)
Paper: Wisteria Wonder 8.5 x 11 cardstock (122922) NEW.  Berry Blossom Designer Series Paper (122350) NEW
Ink:  Calypso Coral Classic Stampin Pad (122939) NEW, Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin Pad (122936) NEW
Embellishments: Basic Rhinestones (119246)
Tools:  Snail Adhesive (104332).  Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Sponge Daubers (102892)

Thank You Card - Compliments to the Chef

I am a huge fan of Thank You cards!  Here is a very simple card to send to a hostess after a wonderful dinner party!

You can easily change out the sentiment for a different occasion such as "Thinking of You" or just a simple "Thank You".   I used the beautiful Bella Toile stamp which is now retired but could be easily swapped for another huge stamp like Parlor Prints.  I stamped it in Daffodil Delight onto Very Vanilla paper.  I used Early Espresso Grosgrain ribbon in 1/4" to tie it all together!

Another simple 2 minute card!

To make this card you will need:

Paper: Daffodil Delight 8.5 x 11 cardstock (119683).  Very Vanilla (101650)
Ink:  Early Espresso Classic Stampin Pad (119670)
Ribbon: Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain (120931)
Tools: Snail Adhesive (104332).

Two minute card!

Thursday, August 4, 2011

OK, so this is one of my favourite cards.  It is so elegant that you can use it for absolutely any occasion.  Best of all, it is unbelievably easy to make using the Big Shot and it is really fool proof since the machine is doing all the work!  Since I used Night of Navy paper for the card base, I added a Whisper White Top Note.  If you use any lighter coloured paper you wouldn't have to add that to the inside.
The two pearls just give it that final touch!

I love embossing folders!!!

To make this card you will need:

Paper: Night of Navy Cardstock (100867).  Whisper White Cardstock (100730).
Embellishments: Basic Pearls (119247)
Tools: Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (117335).  Top Note Bigz Die (113463).

Birthday Invite

Monday, August 1, 2011

Here is the final invitation!  I decided to change it up a bit and use three different styles of paper on the invitation base.

Which one is your favourite??

The invitation opens to show a super cute picture of the girls and on each side flap I printed off the birthday party details.  Taffeta ribbon is used to keep the card together and the "Look who's turning..." is stuck on to one side with a dimensional sticker.  Everything comes together using the 2010-2011 In Colors and the new Just Add Cake designer series paper!  I love the colour combinations!

To make this card you will need:

Stamp Set:  Look Who's Turning (114403)
Paper: Blushing Bride 8.5 x 11 cardstock (119796).  Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper (124339) NEW
Ink:  Concord Crush Classic Stampin Pad (119785)
Ribbon: Baja Breeze 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (122964) NEW
Tools:  Snail Adhesive (104332).  Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
